My Homemade Flu Bomb Honey: Nature’s Little Jar of Magic
There’s something so nourishing and empowering about creating your own natural remedies—especially when they’re simple, full of love, and made with ingredients straight from nature. This week, I decided to make one of my favourite wellness staples: my Flu Bomb Honey. It’s soothing, potent, and the first thing I grab when I feel that little tickle in my throat or the heaviness of a cold starting to creep in.
With just four ingredients—raw honey, garlic, ginger, and lemon—this golden blend is packed with natural goodness. I roughly chopped the garlic and ginger, sliced the lemon, layered it all into a jar, and poured raw honey over the top. Then I let it sit for a week so every bit of immune-boosting goodness could infuse its way into the honey. After straining it, I was left with the perfect flu-fighting elixir I now stir into warm water or tea whenever I need a little immune support.
Why These Ingredients? The Natural Health Benefits
💛 Raw Honey
Raw honey is liquid gold for the immune system. It’s naturally antibacterial, antiviral, and full of antioxidants. It soothes sore throats, coats irritated tissue, and supports healing. Unlike processed honey, raw honey still contains its enzymes, vitamins, and pollen—all the good stuff that helps your body fight infection and reduce inflammation.
🧄 Garlic
Yes, it’s a strong flavour—but garlic is one of nature’s most powerful natural antibiotics. It contains allicin, a compound known to fight bacteria and viruses. Garlic has been used for centuries to boost immunity, clear congestion, and support the body in fighting colds and flus.
🌿 Ginger
Ginger brings warmth and comfort. It helps reduce inflammation, eases nausea, and supports healthy digestion (which is key because our gut is a big part of our immune system!). Ginger is also amazing for clearing the respiratory system and improving circulation, helping your body move gunk (technical term!) out more easily.
🍋 Lemon
Lemon is full of vitamin C and antioxidants that help strengthen the immune system. It also helps alkalise the body, cut through mucus, and support liver detoxification. The fresh citrus gives the flu bomb a light, bright flavour while working hard behind the scenes to boost immunity and fight infections.
How I Use It
Whenever I feel a cold coming on or my energy dipping, I simply add a spoonful of this infused honey into a mug of warm water or herbal tea. It’s soothing, comforting, and feels like a warm hug for your immune system. You can also drizzle it on toast, add it to hot lemon water, or take it straight from the spoon like a sweet little potion.
